This conference will review the development and significance of the English Channel throughout prehistory as a topographic and cultural boundary. Speakers will consider the archaeology of South East England and European coastal regions, from the initial colonisation of Britain prior to the formation of the Channel half a million years ago, through to patterns of established cross-channel contact in later prehistory.
